REQUIRES A LONGER ADOPTION PROCESS AND AN EXPERIENCED HOME Iris the Chihuahua is as pretty as the flower for which she was named. A sweet girl, her true personality emerges around other dogs of all sizes, and she is playful and happy. She loves frolicking with them or snuggling with a friend in a nice, soft bed. Another confident canine in her home will be needed to help Iris overcome her shyness. Because she is still frightened of sudden movements and loud noises, Iris is not suited for a home with children, and her adult humans must be patient, kind and understanding. A securely fenced yard will allow her to safely work on her leash and potty training, and enjoy her outside time. With the help of a loving family, Iris will blossom into the confident little Chi she was meant to be. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Common skills such as housetraining and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly, and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
