REQUIRES A LONGER ADOPTION PROCESS AND AN EXPERIENCED HOME Luke the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is trying so hard to overcome his past and trust that humans will be kind and gentle. Afraid to look at you directly when he first arrived, Luke has started to make eye contact with the members of his rehab team. He is really only relaxed when he is around other dogs, and he will definitely need a canine sibling in his forever home. Already trained to be on-leash, Luke likes to take walks but will need a securely fenced yard where he can work on potty training and enjoy the great outdoors. Despite his fears, Luke is a very sweet guy. Children scare him, but if you have a quiet, all-adult home, a friendly, confident dog, and the time and patience he needs, you may be the family that Luke has been looking for all his life. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Common skills such as housetraining and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly, and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
