REQUIRES A LONGER ADOPTION PROCESS AND AN EXPERIENCED HOME Sherbet the Husky is trying so hard to be brave about all the changes in her life. With the help of the NMDR rehab team, she has made some progress, but she remains very frightened and shy around people. With other dogs, though, Sherbet is friendly and easygoing, and another confident dog will be a necessity in her forever home. Children are too noisy and rambunctious for Sherbet, so she must have a calm, all-adult home. Although she already knows how to walk on a leash, and loves to go for walks, Sherbet also loves to run and explore and will need a very secure yard with a high board fence, since Huskies can jump and also climb. If you are a patient, understanding person who will offer her love, structure and a nice soft bed for napping, maybe sweet Sherbet is right for your family. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Common skills such as housetraining and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly, and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
